Travel to Switzerland

The Swiss Travel System is the brand name for the entire range of Swiss public transport services available to foreign visitors. All trains, Postbuses and ships on lakes and rivers – and even the buses and trams in urban areas – are part of the Swiss Travel System.

A selection of all-in-one tickets, exclusively for our visitors, gives access to all these services. The Swiss Pass is our top offer, and enables visitors to travel free of charge on the Swiss Travel System’s entire network for periods ranging from four days to one month. Just imagine – unrestricted travel from the airport railway station to right up into the mountains and back again! We also have a selection of other tickets for visitors with different requirements.

Tickets issued by the Swiss Travel System cover a total of some 150 Swiss public transport companies. Its “golden flower” logo is derived from that used by Switzerland Tourism – the official marketing agency for tourism in Switzerland overall and across all markets – and the two organizations work closely together.

After 2008 broke all the records, sales fell by 7% to CHF 57 million in 2009 as a result of the global economic downturn.
A total of 224,000 foreign visitors travelled on a Swiss Travel System pass or ticket in 2009. The expansion of our distribution network worldwide and the continuing enhancement of our range – with discounts on offers from our partners, for example – mean our dynamic business development looks set to continue. But the core Swiss Travel System markets remain unchanged: customers from Great Britain, North America, Germany, India and Japan still account for 75% of our total sales.

The Swiss Travel System is managed by the Swiss Travel System Ltd. Its business address is:
